My matching Christmas Dress

With my favorite itchy sweater, that matches perfectly.

W/o the sweater, I made bra straps for the dress using candy cane striped ribbon. The bodice was a real challenge. I don't understnad pattern measuerments. According to the pattern, I'd wear a size 16. I knew that was not the case, so to be safe I cut out a size 10, STILL to big. It was a pain trying to adjust it all after that. It worked out in the end, I guess.

I'm pleased w/ how FUN it looks. :-)

Christmas Dress Revisited

Since the weather has taken a turn towards CHILLY, this dress needed something UNDER.

I trimmed this white shirt w/ matching red pom-poms on the collar & sleeves w/ ribbon trim on the sleeves too.

I also added a double layer of ruffles in matching fabric for the jeans topped off w/ the wider polka dot ribbon. The ruffles were a challenge cause I did not cut the jeans, I sewed directly on top of them.

Too fun!

I think I've got SIL hooked!

SIL worked on this dress while I was working on the pinafore for the previous dress. I think she looks much more old fashioned in this dress. So lovely. I had purchasedthis fabric & ribbon months ago to make a retro inspired style dress for L but could never find a pattern for what I had in mind. Now her dolly gets one instead. :-)

I'm in LOVE

I got this Cheap American Girl type doll from the thrift store for my 4.5 yo dd. She was in pretty good condition already but needed a few minor touch ups. I detangled her hair, mainly & cleaned a few dirt spots. Here her hair is in 'rags' to curl it & will probably stay like that until Christmas when she is presented. My sil gave her a small bit of a trim to get rid of a few really frizzy ends.

I made her first dress. It was really irritating to work w/ such small pieces. Afterwards though, I am so taken w/ her. I almost want to keep her for myself. I used velcro fastners to make it easy for my dd to dress & undress her. This looks like a nightgown but it is a dress which I will be adding a matching pinafore too later. I also plan to create a cape & some old fashioned looking pajamas to double as bloomers. I think she is so adorable.
