Ruffled Fabric Screen

BEFORE

When SIL & I saw this screen we KNEW we had to get it for mom's room. It is just GORGEOUS!

It is metal, goldish color w/ leaves.
Her new bedroom furniture & comforter set & all have a bit of an asian feel. She said she wanted bamboo curtain rods---quite pricey.

Instead we headed over to Big Lots to get cheaper curtain rods. We found some w/ leaf rod ends.

Then we saw this screen! We bought a sheer swag & knew we'd finagle something w/ it to create a little more privacy.

AFTER

We used hot glue & attached the sheer fabric from the tops & the bottom of the screen. We did each panel seperately.

Again, we impressed ourselves w/ how beautiful it came out. :-)

We are working on some curtains for the bedroom made from blue satin trimmed in gold satin that have a bit of an asian, leaf-bamboo type print on it. Hence, the gold leaves on the screen.

No Sew Blanket for mom

I had a fleece blanket one day & mom really liked it. They are quite cozy & soft. SO I went & bought a yard & a half of this. (I prefer the rectangular shape of a yard though)

Cut the edges (I only do the two opposite short ends) & tie strips in knots. Voila'. Done.

This is fleece, the fabric does not fray. This particular one is cute & colorful cause it looks like crochetted granny squares.

Mom loved it, of course & has gotten many compliments on it.

Curtains for mom's kitchen

I made these curtains for my mom's kitchen. She had some brand new dishes packed away that we brought out. They have brick colored checkers around the edges & a chubby chef in the center.

I looked for fabric w/ a chef on it but couldn't find anything. She also has a lovely table runner, place mats, glass cutting board& tea light candle holders w/ a bit of a Parisian/wine theme.

That is why I could settle for the fabric w/ wine bottles & grapes. Here is a close up. I measured the window, cut the main fabric & then cut strips of the checkered. She was admiring the fabric while I worked on it & didn't know they were for her.

I forgot to measure extra length for the trim to account for the trim...so I had to add a square to each corner. I was rather impressed myself w/ them & think they look lovely.
